Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has criticised the weak state the country has reached after he stepped down, a leaked interview appears to show.

In the audio, which was released on Facebook by a group called “Asef Ya Rayes” (Sorry Mr President), a man who is said to be Mubarak can be heard saying:

The whole world doesn’t take us seriously any more. All the world knows we have become a weak nation. Although we held a lot of weight previously.

Speaking about Ethiopia’s Renaissance Dam, Mubarak says: “They [Ethiopians] didn’t dare say anything to me… At the time I had the Tupolev aircraft which I could use to strike the dam, destroying it with a single shot.”
