Kuwait stands ready to deal with any potential flow of Daesh fighters into its territory after the militant group’s defeat in Iraq, Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper has reported.
The paper cited an unofficial letter written by the Assistant Undersecretary for Special Security Affairs, Major General Mahmoud Al-Dosari, in which he reportedly ordered the leaders of security services at borders, airports and vital installations to take all necessary measures to counter the threat.
Asharq Al-Awsat cited sources as saying that the ministry has cancelled all leave requests by some of its army personnel in an attempt to raise the state of vigilance across the country amid threats of attacks by Daesh.

Kuwait previously faced several terrorist attacks that Daesh claimed responsibility for.
The Kuwaiti government’s concerns came in the wake of reports that some Daesh fighters seek to sneak into Kuwait after the Iraqi army defeated them in Mosul.
In July 2016, Kuwait announced that it had dismantled various terrorist cells, one of which was reportedly planning to blow up a mosque in the Hawally area, and another was preparing for another terrorist act.
