Libya GNA forces control areas east of Tripoli

Forces loyal to Libya’s Government of National Accord said they had taken controlled of the city of Castelverde, 75 kilometres east of Tripoli, after three days of confrontations with forces loyal to the Tripoli-based National Salvation Government.

The Rebels of Tripoli battalion said in a statement on Facebook that it was now governed Castelverde, vital facilities surrounding it, fuel stations and its main gates after fierce fightings today.

The battalion noted that this came after all attempts to expel the rebels peacefully were exhausted and failed.

The National Salvation Government was not immediately available for comment.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Health in the Government of National Accords said that clashes east of the capital Tripoli since Sunday have resulted in the deaths of four people and wounded 21.
