A large fire broke out on Thursday in a military zone in Turkey’s southern province of Kilis bordering Syria, and small explosions were heard from an ammunition depot there, state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

Fire fighters were working to control the blaze and traffic was halted on a highway in the area, it added. There were no reports of any casualties and the cause of the fire was unclear. Television showed images of black smoke billowing into the sky.
