The UAE has been violating the rights of Qatari investors who have private property in the Emirates, the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) reported yesterday.
In a statement, the committee called on the UAE not to drag investor rights into its ongoing political dispute with its Gulf neighbour or to use them as a tool of political pressure in flagrant violation of the international human rights conventions.
The NHRC pointed to the stark violations of the blockade on Qatar and how it violates a range of civil, economic, social and cultural rights, including the right to own property.

“The unjust siege affected the rights of Qatari investors and residents of Qatar who own property in the UAE specifically, by depriving them of this right as stated in the international human rights convents,” it said.
The NHRC warned that if the violations against Qatari investors in the UAE continue, the committee will resort to the United Nations to resolve the issue.
On 5 June, the UAE and a number of other countries severed ties with Doha and placed it under siege.
