5 killed in Egypt bus crash

Five people have been killed and at least 54 were injured when two buses collided on a highway near the city of Suez, Egypt, today.

The state news agency MENA reported that the identities of those who were killed have not been established.

Twenty-five ambulances were rushed to the scene of the crash, Al-Ahram newspaper reported Suez security chief Mohamed Gad saying.

Eyewitnesses said one bus was travelling on the highway to the Red Sea resort of Ain Sokhna when it suddenly swerved and collided with a bus travelling in the opposite direction.

This comes only one week after nearly 50 people were killed when two trains collided near Alexandria.
