Turkey today released French journalist Loup Bureau who was seized by security forces on the Iraqi border last month, his lawyer said.

“We are pleased to announce the release of journalist #LoupBureau. He will be expelled from Turkey shortly,” lawyer Martin Pradel said via Twitter.

Bureau was detained in late July after he was found to have photographs and interviews with Kurdish militia fighters among his possessions as he crossed in to Turkey from Iraq.

He was suspected of assisting a terrorist organisation, the Anadolu Agency said citing a security official.

He was also found to have a video entitled “List of weapon distribution”, the agency said.
