Somalia: Al-Shabaab stone polygamous woman to death

The Al-Shabaab group yesterday stoned a woman who was found cheating on her husband in Somalia, Reuters reported.

The 30-year-old mother of eight was stoned in the Jubba region, south Somalia. Only 320 miles from the capital Mogadishu, the Jubba region is under the control of Al-Shabaab.

Isak left her husband, Ali Ibrahim, after telling him that she was travelling to Mogadishu to visit relatives. Instead, she married another Somali national and was living with him in Sakow.

Ibrahim filed a legal case to the court. Isak admitted marrying illegally.

According to Al-Shabaab’s laws, the punishment for this is death by stoning.

Al-Shabaab has been at war with the Somali government for over a decade. The group seeks to implement a strict version of Islamic law across the country and oust the government.
