Egypt releases 24 Nubian protesters in Aswan

The Egyptian State Security Court of Misdemeanours in Aswan yesterday ordered the release of 24 Nubians accused of protesting without permission until their trial date.

The defendants were arrested on 2 September during a march and were charged with illegal protesting.

The court postponed the trial until 12 December.

One of the defendants, Gamal Sorour, died in prison after falling in to a diabetic coma on 4 November.
