Iranian state television on Sunday aired a video of what it said were the confessions of an Iranian academic who was sentenced to death for providing information to Israel’s national intelligence agency Mossad.
In a 17-minute video clip prepared by the counterintelligence division of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence, in disaster medicine at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, claimed that he had worked with a foreign intelligence agency while studying in Europe.
In the video Djalali claimed that he had provided information regarding Iranian nuclear scientists which led to two being targeted in a series of assassinations that took place in Tehran between 2010 and 2012 at the height of the international crisis over Iran’s nuclear programme.
The academic was sentenced to death in mid-October after he was arrested in April 2016 during a visit to Iran.
