Gaza’s public servants call on Hamdallah gov’t to quit

The Public Servants’ Syndicate in Gaza urged Rami Hamdallah’s reconciliation government today to step down and to form a national salvation government. It’s their failure to respond to their legitimate demands.

In a march organised by the Syndicate, Yacoub al-Ghandour, the head of the Gaza branch of the Public Servants’ Syndicate, said that Hamdallah’s government had divided the people, noting that there is still no solution for the Gaza employees’ crisis.

Public Servants in Gaza suspended work in the ministries and government departments starting at 10:30 this morning in response to the Syndicate’s call to gather and demand their rights. The march started at the Unknown Soldier’s Square and reached the cabinet headquarters.

Al-Ghandour stressed that the Syndicate will continue to support the reconciliation efforts. He stated that the reconciliation is destined to fail due to the disregard for the demands of the public servants in Gaza, as the government is side-stepping the requirements of the reconciliation agreement.

He called on all the national and Muslim factions, as well as the Egyptian sponsor of the reconciliation, to act in accord with their responsibilities towards the Palestinian people.
