Saudi Arabia’s former Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf has been acquitted of corruption charges and attended the year’s first Cabinet meeting in Riyadh on Tuesday. Images of Al-Assaf at the meeting were released by the Saudi Press Agency.
The minister was among dozens of Saudi officials and princes who were detained by the authorities during a recent anti-corruption purge ordered by Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
Al-Assaf is the second prominent Saudi official to appear in public after being detained during the purge. On Saturday, state television broadcast images of former National Guard head Prince Miteb Bin Abdullah, another former detainee, alongside Bin Salman. He is said to have paid $1 billion to secure his release.
