The Russian Foreign Ministry yesterday launched its official website in Arabic.

“Today we are launching the Russian Foreign Ministry official website in Arabic,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a press conference.

“The website was specifically created for Arabic-speaking users and we will select news that will be of particular interest to them,” she added.

One of the first articles published on the Arabic website was the final statement of the Syrian National Dialogue conference held in Sochi over the past two days.

Russia has been increasing its influence in the Middle East and backing Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad’s campaign against opposition groups.
