Leaders of Morocco’s Justice and Development Party warned of continued attacks against their political group.
“The party is still a target, and the party’s youth and members should be vigilant to thwart any plots to divide it,” the Secretary-General and Prime Minister, Saadeddine El Othmani, said during the party’s sixth youth conference on Saturday.
He accused unknown figures of trying to derail the coalition government, adding: “We are loyal to our ally, the Progress and Socialism Party, and our relationship with it continues in order to serve the country’s interest.”
El Othmani praised the role played by his predecessor, Abdelilah Benkirane, who was in attendance.
Benkirane called on party members to be loyal to the monarchy and preserve its status and help it to serve the nation.
He went on to slam the party’s political opponents who continue to target it, adding that the political group will not remain silent against such provocations.
