Commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qasem Soleimani, yesterday vowed revenge following the death of Hezbollah military chief, Imad Mughniyeh.
Speaking at a Tehran ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of Mughniyeh’s assassination at the hands of Israel, Soleimani said: “The Israeli occupation knows that we will fulfil our promise of eliminating it from existence and we will not forget and will not spend a moment of our lives without thinking about it.”
He said that Mughniyeh was “more than a guerrilla war expert” adding that he co-founded Hezbollah.
“He broke the fear barrier in Lebanon from Israel. He was always present in the field, watching military operations,” he said.
Soleimani said Mughniyeh was the first to bring the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to Tehran.
Mughniyeh was assassinated in a car bomb in 2008 in Damascus.
