Bahrain bans members of dissolved parties from running in elections

Bahrain has amended its law to prevent members and leaders of dissolved political parties from running in parliamentary elections, Al-Watan News reported yesterday.

“The parliament has to prevent everyone who intends to harm or obstruct the constitutional or parliamentary work by leaving his post or as a result of being ousted over the aforementioned reasons from running for elections,” parliamentarians agreed.

MPs, who supported this amendment, claimed that this keeps up with the democratic process and protects the flow of political work, stressing that it was not aimed against anyone or any certain side.
