Israel arrests Jordanian citizen en route to mother’s funeral

Israeli forces arrested a Jordanian citizen as he crossed into the West Bank via the King Hussein Bridge to attend his mother’s funeral, Jordan’s Foreign Ministry reported yesterday.

Ararawi’s wife and children were allowed to enter Palestine but were prevented by Israeli forces from returning home, the ministry added.

“The ministry is coordinating with the Jordanian Embassy in Tel Aviv to follow up on the case and to understand the reason behind the Jordanian citizen’s [Ararawi] arrest,” the ministry noted.

Israeli authorities did not comment on the arrest.
