The Head of Turkey’s İYİ Party (the Good Party), Meral Akşener on Sunday vowed that she would send back Syrian refugees from Turkey before the end of next year if she won the 24 June presidential elections.
“I promise you from here that the Syrian refugees who are in Turkey will have their Ramadan breakfast in 2019 together with their brothers in Syria,” Akşener told a gathering in the southern city of Mersin as part of her presidential campaign.
“The presence of Syrian refugees in Turkey has had a negative impact on the country’s economy,” she said, claiming that the wrong policy pursued by the current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has doubled the number of Syrian refugees in the country.Akşener has also promised that if she wins, she will work to provide jobs for each young man and work to develop quality education in public and private schools.
