German man attacks Syria refugee family with ‘fighting dogs’

A Syrian refugee was left bleeding on Sunday after being racially abused and then set upon by dogs in the city of Magdeburg.

The 29-year-old Syria suffered “serious” injuries to his arm and was taken to hospital after the attack by a German man and his canines.

The 23-year-old German man hurled abuse at the Syrian family in one of the city’s parks. The German then left the scene only to return with two “fighting dogs” and as the Syrian tried to protect his family from the man, the German held him in a headlock while his dogs bit him.

The Syrian was left bleeding from his arm and had his trousers torn apart.

Police tracked the suspect down arrested him and seized his dogs.

Magdeburg in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt has been the site of several attacks on foreigners. The city is in a part of Germany that has seen rising support for the right-wing political parties.
