Palestinian President's office: 'Deal of the Century' will fail

The Palestinian president’s office said that the US peace plan, known as the “Deal of the Century,” will fail if the US administration continues its current policy, which does not recognise the right of the Palestinian people to establish their state.

Palestinian Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh told official Palestinian WAFA News Agency: “Any US plan will inevitably fail as long as it does not enjoy Palestinian acceptance and does not comply with the resolutions of the international legitimacy regarding the Palestinian cause.”

Rudeineh went on:

Making peace does not require deals or ideas; it rather needs a genuine will that believes in peace as a way to end the conflict, which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Jerusalem represents the beginning and the end of any peace plan.

“Any attempts to circumvent the clear and firm Palestinian position, and the principles of international legitimacy, whether through Palestinian parties or suspicious models that have failed in the face of the determination of the Palestinian position and its confronting ability, or through regional parties, will only lead to further deterioration and tension in the region and the world,” Rudeineh said.
