The US embassy in Baghdad yesterday denied US responsibility for air strikes that killed dozens of Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) fighters near the Syrian-Iraqi border.

US Ambassador to Baghdad Douglas Silliman said in a statement after meeting Iraqi Vice President Osama Al-Nujaifi yesterday that the US air force was not responsible for the attack on some Iraqi factions in Syria, stressing that there is no US air activity in the region.

As many as 30 Iraqi PMF militiamen were killed while stationed on the Syrian side of the border with Iraq to fight Daesh.
