Thirteen Palestinian amputees have come together to form Gaza’s first football squad of people with disabilities.

“This is the first football team of amputees in Palestine, and it was formed as part of personal efforts to emphasise the right of people with special needs to play any sport, and show how they love life just like anyone else in the world,” Managing Director of the Palestine Amputee Football Association Mahmoud Al-Naouq said.

Aged between 13 and 35 the players hope to one day compete in international championships.

Players are made up of those who play with only one leg and others, including the goal keeper, who have lost an arm.
