Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir stressed on Sunday that his country will spare no effort to support Palestinian unity, Anadolu has reported. He made his promise in a meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

“We are strongly persuaded about the importance of Palestinian unity,” explained Al-Bashir, “as any division weakens the Palestinian issue and wastes it.” He described Palestine as the “first Arab issue.”

Abbas briefed Sudan’s leader with the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, including the proposed solutions for reconciliation. He expressed his appreciation of Sudan’s position in support of the Palestinian cause and hailed the country for hosting thousands of Palestinian refugees.
