Hundreds of Palestinians took to the streets in the West Bank city of Ramallah yesterday to protest against the Palestinian Authority (PA), calling it to lift its punitive measures imposed on the Gaza Strip, Quds Press reported.

The protesters gathered in the centre of the city and raised placards reading: “Lift the sanctions imposed on Gaza”, “Shame on You Abbas” amongst others.

According to Quds Press, the protesters, among them MPs and leaders of Palestinian factions, also called for the PA to stop its security cooperation with the Israeli occupation.

They accused the PA of starving the residents of Gaza by cutting the salaries of government employees, halting treatment transfers and destroying basic services.

More protests are expected to be held on Wednesday.
