Netanyahu rejects Russia offer to keep Iran 100km away from Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday rejected an offer to keep Iranians 100 kilometres away from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, according to Reuters.

The news group reported an Israeli official saying that Netanyahu told Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: “We will not allow the Iranians to establish themselves even 100 kilometres from the border.”

Netanyahu also called, according to the Times of Israel, for closing the Syrian-Iraqi borders and the Syrian-Lebanese borders to stop the smuggling of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah.

Long-range Iranian missiles and the air-defence systems should be moved out of Syria, he said, while the production of precision-guided weapons should be stopped.
