German media reports on Friday confirmed the killing of Rida Siyam, the Daesh official responsible for education, in an attack on the Iraqi city of Mosul, RT.com has reported.

A German citizen who was born in Egypt, Siyam lived in Berlin before he left in 2012 to join Daesh in Syria. He later became responsible for the Daesh education department in Mosul.

Siyam’s wife and children are still in Germany, the local reports claim. It is said that they kept in touch after he left the country.

Germany’s domestic intelligence agency expects the return of one third of the 1,000 jihadists said to have left the country since 2013 to join Daesh and other terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq. About 150 jihadists from Germany have been killed in the conflict zones, said RT.
