A senior Iranian official has said that the diplomatic channel between Tehran and Washington has been completely closed, Anadolu reported on Friday. The Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament said that Iranians and Americans speak together through the mass media.
However, Heshmatollah Falahat-Pisheh ruled out any military confrontation between the two countries. “Any war between the two countries will expand to the whole region and the entire world,” he explained. “Hence, I do not expect there to be a war.”
Regarding the Iranian threat to close the Strait of Hormuz if the US undermines Tehran’s oil sales, he said that the US violated international law through its unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear deal and it has to bear the consequences. US President Donald Trump announced in May his country’s withdrawal from the international nuclear deal reached with Iran.

President Hassan Rouhani warned on 2 July that Iran would close the Strait of Hormuz if the US imposed economic sanctions on his country. America decided to put restrictions on Iran’s oil exports last November.
Insisting that Iran is not planning to destabilise the global oil market, Falahat-Pisheh noted that the remarks of the Iranian President in this regard were “warnings” to the US which Washington has to understand “correctly”.
