Twenty-seven members of the Israeli Knesset have resigned since the 2015 election of this parliament, the Times of Israel reported yesterday.
The number of those who have left office is greater than during any other government, the paper said, adding that they make up almost one quarter of the 120 MKs who were elected.
“That number will rise to 28 once Zionist Union’s Zouheir Bahloul, who announced he was leaving Saturday in protest over the nation-state law, officially tenders his resignation in the fall,” the paper added.

Previously the highest number of ministers who had stepped down was 20 during the 1999-2003 government.
In the current Knesset, 11 MKs left because they chose to give up politics, 11 others because of rotations or to allow other members of their party to take up seats, four because of scandals or allegations against them and one MK stepped down due to ill health.
The Times of Israel reported that another minister is under pressure to step down because of a sexual harassment scandal.
