India has rejected an offer from UAE government to provide $100 million fund to help those affected by floods in the southern state of Kerala, though the losses were estimated at more than $3 billion due to the floods.

Seasonal floods have left more than 400 victims and displaced some 1.2 million people who are currently living in camps.

In response to the UAE offer, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the Indian government, in line with the existing policy, “is committed to providing relief and rehabilitation needs through local efforts.”
