Iran is making efforts to remove militants from the war-torn Syrian city of Idlib with “the least human cost,” the Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said today.
Speaking to the state-owned Islamic Republic of Iranian Broadcasting (IRIB), Zarif noted that the situation in Idlib was “sensitive.”

“Our efforts are for the exit of terrorists from Idlib to be carried out with the least human cost,” he stressed.
Iran supports the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in Syria’s civil war. Idlib, located in the northwest of Syria, is the country’s last opposition stronghold.
Russia’s Sputnik recently reported that Russia might send massive military reinforcements to the Syrian army, in preparation for an expected military offensive on Idlib.
