The Saudi criminal court began the trial of prominent TV host, Fahd al-Sunaidi one year after his arrest, Saudi media reports.
According to Saudi reports, the court accused al-Sunaidi, a program host on the al-Majd TV channel of several charges including supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and demanding the release of security detainees.
One of the most controversial charges against al-Sunaidi is attending a conference in Libya after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime, without permission from the Saudi authorities.

According to activists, al-Sunaidi is known for his moderation and keeping away from mainstream media in Saudi Arabia.
Twitter users expressed deep sympathy with al-Sunaidi, saying the authorities are angry with him because he has hosted Islamic figures in his TV show, most notably Safar al-Hawali and Salman al-Awda.
In 2013, the Saudi authorities suspended a TV show presented by al-Sunaidi during the month of Ramadan on the same channel after hosting detained academic Mohammed al-Hudayef.
