Any decisions addressed to the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) is “invalid”, the PLC speaker, Aziz Duwaik, said yesterday, calling on the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas “to abide by the provisions of the constitution, and maintain its stake.”

Duwaik accused the Palestinian Authority (PA) of “tampering with the Palestinian institutions and exploiting them in favour of hidden agendas that won’t serve the Palestinian people.”

The Palestinian official stressed that a “fair election is the reference to represent the Palestinian people,” otherwise anything else will be “a revocation to the constitution’s principals.”

He called on the PA to “immediately” uplift all the measures and restrictions on the Gaza Strip, and declare “a practical programme to reach Palestinian reconciliation.”
