Kuwait’s Engineers Without Borders said the estimated losses caused by last Tuesday’s rainstorm amounted to about KD 100 million ($330 million).
Head of the organization, Zainab Qarashi said in a statement that the repeated problem of floods needs a radical solution to save hundreds of millions of dinars for the government and society.
Qarashi explained that increasing the absorption capacity of the drainage networks may be expensive but in the long term, it will be a real investment and will reduce losses caused by seasonal floods.
Over the past few days, Kuwait has witnessed heavy rainfall and floods resulted in one death, 409 injuries and flooding many residential areas.
