According to local sources, the three-storey building belonged to the Shaaban family and was demolished under the pretext of being built without the difficult-to-obtain Israeli permit.

The Shaaban family said that Israeli authorities handed them a demolition order several months ago, which they appealed. However, Israeli authorities rejected their legal action.
