Two Palestinian minors from occupied East Jerusalem were released from Israeli jails yesterday after serving three years in detention.

Occupation forces released 15-year-old Ahmad Raed Zaatari and Shadi Anwar Farrah who had been convicted of “possessing sharp tools and endangering public security” and handed a two year term in Israeli juvenile detention centres. They had already spent a year in detention before they were sentenced.

The boys were detained near the Old City of East Jerusalem on 30 December 2015.

Amjad Abu Asab, who heads a Jerusalem committee for prisoners’ families, said at the time of their arrest that both children were “interrogated in the absence of adult family members and lawyers, which is a serious violation of Israeli law and international law.”
