Jordan's unemployment rate rises to 18.6%

The unemployment rate in Jordan is up 0.1 per cent in the third quarter of the year compared to the same period last year, rising to 18.6 per cent, according to a report by the Jordanian Department of Statistics.

The report, which was released on Sunday, revealed that the unemployment rate for men stood at 16.3 per cent compared to 27.1 per cent for women for the same period, indicating that the unemployment rate for men increased by 0.9 per cent, while it decreased for women by 2.8 per cent compared to the third quarter of 2017.

Among university graduates, the report pointed out that the unemployment rate reached 24.1 per cent.
