Syrian deputy foreign minister said that his government has revived contacts with “Kurdish groups” following the Turkish intervention.
“There is no alternative but to revive dialogue with the Kurdish groups,” Faisal Mekdad told reporters at a news conference yesterday; expressing his optimism that foreign forces will leave the country.

“Previous experiences with the Kurdish groups were not encouraging,” he added, “but now things are coming to an end. If some Kurds claim to be an integral part of the Syrian state and the people of Syria, these are favourable conditions, and so I am always optimistic.”
He continued: “We encourage these political groups to be sincere in the dialogue that is now going on between the Syrian state and these groups.”
