Egypt today released four Palestinians who were abducted three years ago.
Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh had carried out a diplomatic effort to secure the men’s release during his recent visits to Egypt.
“The release of these four youths reflects the strength of the relationship between Hamas and the Egyptian brothers,” a Hamas official said.
The official thanked Egypt for this “blessed” and “generous” step and stressed on the importance of reinforcing and developing the relationship with Egypt to boost their mutual interests.
The four Palestinians were abducted in August 2015 after passing through the Rafah crossing in to Egypt.
Egyptian authorities denied links to the men’s disappearance.
