Syria, Iran, Iraq discuss counter-terror measures in Damascus

Iranian Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Baqeri [almashhad-alyemeni]

The military chiefs of staff of Iraq and Iran headed to Damascus yesterday to hold a tripartite meeting on combating terror with their Syrian counterpart, Iranian news agency Fars reported.

Iranian Chief of Staff Mohammad Baqeri is heading his country’s military delegation, the news site added.

The meeting is aimed at developing military cooperation, holding counter-terror talks, and increasing coordination between the three countries, in addition to following up on mechanisms of maintaining stability and security in the region.

Baqeri’s programme in Damascus also includes visiting Iranian military consultants in Syria.

Iraqi Chief of Staff Othman Al-Ghanemi is also attending the meeting.
