Two people returned to their homes in Kuwait on Tuesday after having been detained in Iran for the past ten days, according to a Kuwaiti diplomatic source.

On April 28, Iranian authorities detained the pair – identified as Adnan al-Kharafi and Fahd al-Alyan – after their fishing boat strayed into Iranian territorial waters.

Al-Kharafi and al-Alyan flew back to Kuwait on Tuesday, the diplomatic source told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to media.

The pair was received at the Kuwait International Airport by Sami al-Hamad, Kuwait’s deputy foreign minister for consular affairs.

The Iranian authorities had announced plans to release the two men last week, but travel procedures reportedly delayed their departure until Tuesday.
