A court in Bahrain has sentenced a citizen to three years in prison for burning an Israeli flag during a protest held in support of the Palestinians, Al-Bilad has reported.
An appeal against the sentence has been rejected by the High Court of Appeal.
The identity of the man involved was not revealed. The court convicted him and others on charges that included rioting and burning the Israeli flag and other items.
The ruling has sparked outrage among activists in Bahrain. They have written on social media that the small Gulf Kingdom is trying to appease Israel by such a sentence.
