Saudi rejects criticism of two Democratic candidates for US presidency

Saudi Arabia has announced its rejection  of the criticism of two rivals running for the Democratic Party in the upcoming US presidential elections – Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.

Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the US, Reema Bint Bandar Bin Sultan, announced in an interview with Associated Press that she was reserved about Biden and Sanders’s calls to review relations between Washington and Riyadh.

She added that presidential candidates often change their positions when they are elected to the presidency of the country.

“I found in many cases that when a new president enters the White House, he changes 360 degrees, and he may change his opinions. Therefore, I will not comment on the elections, because this is not our business, but I look forward to working with anyone who will enter the White House,” continued Bin Sultan.

Late last year, the election campaign of Joe Biden, a potential Democratic presidential candidate, directed a new criticism against President Donald Trump, and called for a review of US-Saudi relations.

The criticism came at a time when Trump had been facing pressure to review his administration’s approach to Riyadh, after law enforcement officials revealed that an officer with the rank of lieutenant in the Saudi Air Force killed three people at a US Navy base in Pensacola, Florida, before he was killed.
