Israel today announced the reopening of Gaza’s fishing zone after it declared it closed on Monday.

Occupation forces had threatened military action in Gaza in addition to reducing access to the enclave’s coastal waters to zero.

It has now reopened the area allowing Gaza’s fishermen to return to their trade.

The recent closure further exacerbated the already stifling situation Palestinians in Gaza are forced to live under as a result of Israel’s ongoing 14-year land, sea and air blockade.

According to the Fishermen Union Committees, 90 per cent of Palestinian fishermen in Gaza live below the poverty line.
