The General Secretariat of the Iraqi government yesterday approved the National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2021-2024, which was prepared by the Federal Integrity Commission and contributes towards combating and reducing corruption, Anadolu reported.

The National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy includes the use of experienced and competent international companies in the field of recovering smuggled funds and working to control inflation and financial corruption.

In August, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi formed a special committee to investigate major corruption files, and assigned the tasks of implementing arrest warrants to a special force in the prime minister’s office.

On 23 May, President Barham Salih said in a televised speech that $150 billion had been smuggled out of the country as a result of corruption deals since 2003.
