Gaza yesterday re-opened a newly renovated Ottoman-era house after parts of it collapsed.

Jamal Salem, representative of the Palestinian Culture and Arts Authority, said that an agreement was reached with the family who lived in the house, and the restoration was carried out with the support of the authority in an effort to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the old town of Gaza City and show the new generations the cultural and historical heritage of their ancestors

An opening ceremony was held in the presence of dignitaries with Palestinian dabkeh and musicians present along with traditional Bedouin crafts.

Locally produced cultural items and food were also offered for sale in the house.
