Haniyeh arrives in Iran to attend president’s swearing-in ceremony

Chief of Hamas’ Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh arrived in Tehran this morning to attend the swearing-in ceremony of new Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

In a brief statement, Hamas said that Haniyeh arrived in Tehran along with a senior delegation from the movement.

Hamas stated that its delegation travelled to Iran after receiving an invitation to attend Raisi’s swearing- ceremony.

Following the announcement of Raisi’s victory in the elections, Haniyeh congratulated him and expressed hope that he contributes to stabilising the region during his term as a president.

Dozens of international leaders, including officials from the EU are planned to attend the ceremony.
