Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday met with the new British Consul to Palestine, Diane Corner, at the Presidential Palace in Ramallah.

During the meeting, Corner handed Abbas a message from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in which he described the “depth of bilateral relations between the two countries, and the importance of strengthening and developing them at all levels.”

“The United Kingdom will continuously exert all efforts to strengthen its mutual relations with the Palestinian Authority and support the Palestinian people,” Corner stressed.

On his part, Abbas wished Corner “every success in her new role.”

Local media reported that the meeting was attended by Ziad Abu Amr, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), and Majdi Khaldi, Abbas’ diplomatic adviser.
