President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed Turkey’s relations with the UAE during a telephone conversation with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed on Monday. According to local media reports, the Turkish president and the de facto leader of the UAE also covered regional issues.
The leaders reviewed the situation and looked for ways to serve their common interests. Ankara wants to ease tensions with the UAE, which were strained when Turkey supported Qatar in a regional dispute which saw the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Egypt impose a boycott on the small Gulf state in 2017.
Last week, Erdogan met with the UAE’s National Security Adviser, Sheikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, to discuss investment in Turkey.
