Israel’s occupation intelligence services raided the house of a guard from Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday, Safa has reported. After searching the house, the intelligence officers handed Ahmad Abu Alia, 30, a summons to attend an interrogation centre today.

Abu Alia told Safa that he was surprised by the raid and search of his home in Jerusalem just minutes after he had returned from work at the mosque. The search, he said, was “thorough”.

The mosque guard has apparently been detained by Israel several times and expelled from Jerusalem on six occasions during the six years that he has worked at Al-Aqsa. On two occasions, he explained, he was expelled for six months each time, and on the others for three months each. His detentions, he added, were for between one and two weeks.
