Ankara has slammed the top Greek diplomat’s provocative statements against Turkey at a four-way summit that included French, Egyptian and Greek Cypriot colleagues, Anadolu News Agency reports.
According to the report, Ankara called the Greek government for dialogue on the Eastern Mediterranean dispute, Tanju Bilgic, the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry said.
“We call on Greece—which, on the one the one hand, calls for dialogue but, on the other, makes hostile and provocative statements against Turkey—for common sense, honesty and sincerity,” Bilgic said.
Turkey’s reaction follows a four-way ministerial summit that took place in Athens on 19 November, with a focus on efforts to expand the cooperation between these countries in the eastern Mediterranean.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Greece’s Foreign Minister called Turkey “the common denominator” of threats to stability in the region, including the use of migrants as a lever to apply geopolitical pressure.
